Federal Program at District 12
As part of the requirement for federal grants, all school districts need to report to the public concerning the use of federal or NCLB funds. As you may know, the district has lost much of its NCLB money over the past two years, but we do continue to get some funds which are expended as follows:
Title I: $79, 465.00
This is the largest of the federal grants that the district receives. The Title I grant funds pay part of the salary and benefits for two teachers who work in the area of kindergarten readiness and reading improvement.
Title II $35, 602.00
Title II funds are reserved for two purposes: professional development and class size reduction. The district uses some of the funds in conjunction with the Regional Office of Education to provide local staff development opportunities for teachers. $31,330.00 is used to pay teacher salary and benefits to reduce class size in the district.
Title IV: $3,944.00
Partnering with several area schools, the Safe and Drug Free Schools funds are used to partially fund a counselor who is shared with other neighboring schools. The counselor promotes safety and drug free education to the primary grades, and meets with individual students as needed for counseling services.
Title V: $$3,898.00
This money for “Innovative Programs” and is used by the district to help fund the technology program at both schools.
All Saints Academy receives a portion of all of the funds and services based on the number of low income students in each school. The District receives less than half of the federal funds it received several years ago, because NCLB funds are diverted to schools which demonstrate a need for improvement. If you have any questions concerning the District's federally funded programs, please call the Superintendent's office. 526-7128
